Glögg warms you from the inside and out.

Glögg…..Makes about a 750ml bottle

This recipe takes four days to prepare, but you can quickly reduce the time by heating everything and allowing it to steep for 1 hour.

1 ea Cinnamon stick

6 ea Whole Cloves

2 ea Whole star anise

1 piece Ginger 2'“, peeled or dried ginger if you prefer, don’t use ground as a substitute

1/2 tsp Cardamom pods, green

2 ea Oranges, sliced

1/2 cup Dark Raisins

3/4 cup Bourbon, brandy or vodka

1 750 ml Bottle of Red wine, does not have to be expensive.

Mix all ingredients except the wine and sugar in a jar with a tight lid. Allow it to sit for 4 days.

Strain the liquid into a pot, add the wine, and add half of the sugar.

On low heat allow the sugar to dissolve and then taste to see if you need more sugar. If you feel it needs more flavor, add some fresh cinnamon sticks, etc, into the glögg!

Enjoy with peeled almonds and more raisins (not accounted for in the recipe)
